My friend - Saudi is classified as the second best diving spot in the world first being the Great Barrier reef - the diving is great and the Red Sea offers a magnitude of different fish and sea life - you can also dive off a boat in the middle of the Red Sea with in reefs that habour crayfish, rays and sea horses etc... brillant.
In Jeddah there are several good beaches to dive from - Fal Beach, Al Ballad beach, Sherreton beach , Intercontinetal beach and Silver Sands to name a few - however in the diving clubs here there are many spots close to Jeddah like Shwaba beach, Yanbu , Riybagh and other such places.
Egypt is also not too far .......

Sorry as a Jeddahite, I have just fallen off my chair. Are there ever good places to dive. Come to Jeddah and see paradise underwater.

Thanks.. I'd heard that Mombasa had some spectacular reefs, and when we went there, they have been stipped to the bare bones.. There are no fish larger than your hand there... Shocked

I have a shortie dive suit - is it worthwhile to pack in amongst my earthly possessions that I'll be bringing with ?

Cheers yippee

Boet,

Diving gear is very cheap here so you can buy all your kit here if you like - but if your suit is new and you dive with it all the time put in the suit case with all your shorts and Tee shirts...

Flights are really cheap - from SR 99 a trip to SR 180 one way - so not too expencive !!
Just flew SAMA and very good - like Koula back home. Drinks around SR 3 and food around SR 9 not too bad.

If you have the room to bring your kit, bring it all. I guarantee there are bigger fish in the Red sead then Sharkie.

You Guys havent dived in Saudi if you havent dived in Haqale and Duba and Sharma areas Afro1 these sites are virgin terriotries, never been dived before, this weekend we whent to Sharma 14 South, only us on the beach, the coast gaurd came and asked us for our ID's and that was that, the water was 29 deg c the clarity was excelent amasing amount of fish the corral was excelent the weather was warm what more could you whant, as a Tabukien this is our only breakaway and worth the drive, took a lot of photo's of the corral, the only down side is the reef walk but well worth it Afro1 the best vieing is at seven to ten meters so you use far less air so a dive of 60 minutes and more is the norm yippee four by four is assential if you whant to get to the sites and camping for the weekend is a must if you go far, people this is the wild desert there is nothing there except rocks sand and mountains the sunsets are gorgeous the sunrises are to be seen to believe and the starshow is the best ::::<this i one of the reasons I came back to Tabuk if it wasent for this I wouldent even think of comeing back here, we have a wonderful dive community here you will never be short of a dive buddy, between the Americans on Najarani and the British on T.G.V. and the rest at the Hospital there is always someone going down so you could dive every weekend but I try every second weekend eather for the day or the weekend :::<I can go on fore ever but I whont bore you any more but believe me its the best :::<Where can I post a photo ore two Huh
