Well guys, this time some thing serious for a change from the Sharkster.

I have just completed my two years contract with my company in Jeddah who I have enjoyed working for, however the new contract conditions are not what I can agree to and have obtained another job in another city doing more or less the same thing as I have done the past two years.
The company has offered me a letter of NO Ojection - so I think this means I can come back and work in the kingdom with no problems - well thats what I believe.

Now the company that I have an offer from have a visa and are happy that I have a letter of No Objection - but what I want to know is ----- Do I have to leave the Kingdom at all. Do I close my bank account etc?? Will I need to go through the whole process of gettting medicals, police clearance, and other related paperwork??
Will it still take 8 weeks ??
Will all my old documentation be distroyed - ie driving licence, family visa, insurance, medical, Banking etc...

Can some help with some information - or advise.....

Sharkie...I was going through this process just before I was offered something back in South Africa. I had to get a new passport, so I flew back 2 months before I was supposed to start. Luckily I never needed it, because it took longer than 3 months to get it.

If you have a letter of no objection or not, you still have to go back to South Africa and still do or have the following. Its a mission:

.  Police clearance in South Africa requires about 6 weeks (Mariam can do it in 5 days - but it costs a bit more)

·  You must have a power of attorney must contain visa block number and position of client

·  HIV/Test and full medical report obtained in South Africa (Valid for 1 month)

·  Qualification certificates or diplomas. What you did previously should be valid

·  Valid passport + 2 colour photo’s

·  Application form, submit in South Africa to Saudi Embassy

·  Collect Visa

·  Fly back to Saudi

.  Get Block number for wife and kids

.  Go through same process for them as previously

As I understand it, your bank accounts will close automatically upon expiry of your existing Visa, so you will have to open another one. The drivers licence is valid for 5 years (I must check that time) so that is not a problem.

Way forward:

I found out that the only way to get around this whole problem is for your existing company to agree to transfer your visa. Then the whole process takes only about 5 days, and you do not have to leave the country. A few of our guys at my company did this quite successfully.

So spend all your effort on getting your existing company to agree to transfer your Visa.

Just for interest, the Saudi Embassy in South Africa does not even need a letter of no objection to process new applications.

Anyway, good luck.

Robone,

Thanks for the information - what a huge and royal pain in the Butt...
My issue is that again my kids will suffer as they will miss school here for at least 3 months - I am sure they will have no problem... and the whole family will have to trek back again - can a large company put pressure on a smaller company and buy the visa off them or not - and if the larger company has a visa already will this speed things up???
