Having been in KSA for 5 years and just recently having returned to South Africa I know the problems experienced with connecting with sites via the internet from the Kingdom.

The site was easily accessible from SA and you can buy tickets online if you manage to access it later.

In the meantime, here is a list of outlets in Bahrain if you are able to get there yourself beforehand or if you know something there who can purchase tickets for you:

(Apply phone code 00973 from Saudi):

PIT Shop at the Circuit - phone 1745 1649
Euphoria at Seef Mall - 1758 2040
Official GP Merchandise at Al A'ali Complex - 1758 1258
Jawad Supermarket at Jawad Dome - 1769 1010
Al Bandaira Cafe - 1762 2355
Mega Mart opp Starbucks Juffair - 1782 6884
Hava Java - 1758 2324
BIC Stand at Seef Mall - 3997 9023 or 1745 0000

There is also a central contact number: 1745 0000 and fax 1745 1111

Tickets are (50% discount on all grandstand tickets for kids 3 to 15) - in US Dollars:

Main Grandstand - Three Days - $398; Race Day - $318
Oasis Complex - Three Days - $318; Race Day - $255
Turn 1 Grandstand - Three Days - $212; Race Day - $170
University Grandstand - Three Days - $159; Race Day - $128
Victory Grandstand - Three Days - $80; Race Day - $64

There are various hospitality packages but these are over $1000 each.

The dates are 10, 11 and 12 March.

That should help you.

Hope your son has a great birthday and happy race-going.

The site for the Bahrain GP is www.bahraingp.com, without the bh at the end. I have my tickets booked on the Turn 1 Grandstand, for me and the whole family. This should be a nice spot. Last year I went all on my own (my family had not arrived by then), and I sat on the University Stand. If you intend booking on the University stand, make sure that you're at least 15 seats away from the righthand side of the stand, and higher up than halfway from the front. Otherwise you'll be sitting in the sun during the afternoon. Last year the temp on race day was 42°C, but this year should be somewhat cooler, bacause it's one month earlier. I was cooked after the race last year.

Also make 100% sure that your exit/re-entry visa is in order. Sometimes you get a multiple exit/re-entry visa, but on the computer system on the causeway it is only entered as a single. This forced my friend to turn around at the causeway and go home last year!! Don't let such a disappointment happen to you.
