Hi All
Any ideas of the cost of sending things to KSA(Riyadh) from SA?
Employer doesn't do the shipping bit but allows 20kg extra baggage allowance since compounds are furnished. Besides clothing, any suggestions on things to bring-bedding/pots/??
Thanks

RD,

Depending which compound you aregoing to they are normally quiet well equiped - also really dude things are cheap enough to buy new here - so dont bring too much.
What we did was to bring our pictures and african things along with some Putu and Mrs.B but really there are millions of cheap and in expensive places to buy cooking stuff and any other items...

Also the network is big enough for people to assist anyway - and dont forget - if you have a braai a South African can always cook...

I agree with Sharkie (well someone had to eventually). Everything here is cheap enough not too worry too much and the variety is far better than SA. If you are a golfer then put your clubs into a golf travel bag which will allow you to have more space for clothes, shoes, Mrs B etc as most airlines do not charge extra for sports equipment. I can normally get another 5-7 kilos in my golf bag and they do not check. Confirm with your airline first though but I know that Emirates & Etihad allow it!!

So sports equipment is seperate to luggage allowance?
I'll probably be using Emirates.
If so, that's a great idea (normally my handicap is baggage enuf). Afro1
My travel bag is one of those long padded corporate ones that has a double zip-guess it's time to insulate the driver with MRs B!
Would the same apply to my cricket bag?

Unless it is a coffin which makes it obvious what it is then I would not as they will probably want to open up to check to see if it is cricket equipment......... as I said though, just check with the airlines!!

HI RD

I agree as a guy on his own in any country, clothing a fridge(supplied in compound) and tv which is cheap to
buy here, is all you need. The rest you can buy.
However you make mention of your whole family coming over in may, if they want to send things
in any event , you can use TXC(Trans Express Couriers),011-444-6452 (Speak to Tracy)
I paid around R40.00 per kilo from Joburg, including documentation fees etc.

Hope this helps, got these guys details from Brent when I was in your position, so passing the torch Afro1
